Garden Grove Had Weakest Home Market In Q3

In the third quarter Garden Grove’s 92844 ZIP had the weakest housing market in GCOrange County. It ranked 82nd out of 83 O.C. ZIPs for pricing; 67th for sales and 69th in terms of the frequency of foreclosures. In the 2nd quarter of 2009 Garden Grove’s 92844 ZIP ranked 56 out of 83.

Rancho Santa Margarita’s 92688 ZIP ranked second worst in Orange County, followed by Santa Ana’s 92701 ZIP. Garden Grove also had two other ZIPs make it into the bottom 10; 92841 and 92840.

The bottom 25 ZIPs had a median selling price that was 21% less than the ZIPs that ranked in the middle of the pack. A lot of discounting is still happening at the lower end; the bottom 25 ZIPs prices were down 13% from a year ago where as the middle of the pack prices were only 6% below last years price.

Foreclosure occurred in the bottom 25 ZIPs at a rate of 13.4 home per 1,000 compared to 9.8 for the middle ranked ZIPs.
